Courtney Creed earns honorable mention All-MIAA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- SBU senior Courtney Creed was named honorable mention All-MIAA, after leading the Bearcats with 15.6 points per game.

Creed's scoring total was the fifth best in the MIAA this season and she was also the fifth best three-point shooter by percentage (39%). She shot 43% from the field which was sixth best in the MIAA. Her assist-to-turnover ratio (1.25) was seventh best in the conference.

Creed hails from Walnut Grove, Mo., and is a graduate of Ash Grove High School.

Emporia State senior forward Ida Edwards earned MIAA Most Valuable Player. Washburn's Jessica Mainz repeated as the MIAA's Defensive Player of the Year. Missouri Western G/F Jessica Koch was named Freshman of the Year. Pittsburg State's Lane Lord was named Coach of the Year.

The SBU Bearcats will take on top-seeded Emporia State on Friday, March 6, beginning at noon, in the first round of the MIAA Championship Tournament from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
