PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Southwest Baptist University wide receiver Johnnie King was selected to the 2008 Football Gazette All-Super Region Four Third Team.

King, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., was selected to the Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-Super Region Four Third Team offensive squad after catching 89 passes for 1120 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the Bearcats. He averaged 112 yards receiving per game after transferring from Oklahoma Panhandle State.

"Johnnie came in as a transfer and did a phenomenal job for us," said SBU head coach Keith Allen. "We expect him to reach his full potential next season. We can't wait to see what he'll do in the 11 games in 2009."

The Bearcats' record-breaking 2008 season included notching the most wins (5) in a season since 2001 and setting a school record for most points in a season (434). The Bearcats continued their record-setting streak of 44 games without being shut out. SBU also set school records for most offensive yards in a season (5391), and most passing yards in a season (3570).

This marks the seventh year Football Gazette has selected NCAA Division II All-Region teams. The national publication, an authority on small college football, has selected NCAA Division II All-America teams since 1988.

The first-team and second-team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2008 NCAA Division II Football Gazette All-America team will be named later this month.
