Bearcats Name Assistant for Women's Basketball

BOLIVAR, Mo. — Head coach J. C. Carter has announced that Callie Newton has been named as the assistant coach of the SBU Bearcat women’s basketball team.
Newton was most recently an assistant coach at Texas Women’s University (Denton, Texas) of the Lone Star Conference. Prior to her experience in Texas, she played at Drury for three years, serving as a student assistant for the Lady Panthers for one year, and serving as a graduate assistant for another two years.
"Callie is known as a very hard worker," said Carter. "And with that, she has come into our program highly recommended. She has tremendous recruiting ties to this region, and will bring a great amount of knowledge on the floor. She will be in charge of coaching the post and forwards. We are blessed to have her be a part of our program and look for her to have an immediate impact in our success."
