BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The SBU men's tennis team advanced to the 'Sweet 16' of the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championships by defeating Metro State, 5-3.

The Bearcats dropped 2 doubles points, but came back and won the match by taking No. 2 through No. 5 singles.

"It was a good day for SBU tennis," said SBU's head coach John Bryant. "I'm especially happy for our seniors, both on the men's and women's teams. They have worked so hard this year, and now each team gets to make the trip to Houston to be one of the last 16 teams playing."

The SBU men are scheduled to play at 4 PM on May 14 in Houston.
