Bearcats Lose In Texas

STEPHENVILLE, Texas -- The SBU Bearcats lost to Tarleton State, 72-80, to end their season in the 2nd round of the South Central Region.
Of Tarleton's 80 points, 32 of them (40% of total point output) were earned at the free throw line. Tarleton State shot 43 free throws in the contest.
For the second straight night, Nick Kovacevich led Bearcat scoring with 18.
Senior Jim Grabowski, played in his final game as a Bearcat, ended the evening with 11 points and 5 rebounds.
As a team, SBU shot 42.1% from the field and 25.0% from long range.
"Our kids played hard," said SBU's head coach Jeff Guiot. "I've never been more proud of a bunch of kids in my life. They gave it everything they had and did everything we asked them to do."
The Bearcats, 22-8, were MIAA regular-season champions for the second time in three years. This was also their second trip to the regionals in three years.
