SBU Welcomes Myles To Athletics Staff

BOLIVAR, MO -- Southwest Baptist University Director of Athletics, Brent Good, announced today the hiring of Dr. L. Renae Myles as the new Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Success and Senior Woman Administrator. Dr. Myles will begin her duties on January 2, 2008.

Myles has served at several institutions working with student-athletes, advising, tutoring, and counseling. “I am excited to have Dr. Myles join our staff and am looking forward to working with faculty and staff as we work with the student-athletes to improve our academic success rate, retention, and graduation rates,” stated Good.
Dr. Myles is a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, where she earned her B.A. Degree in Journalism/Public Relations with a minor in English at the University of Southern Mississippi. She earned her Masters of Education degree from Northwestern State University in Louisiana majoring in Physical Education/Sports Administration and her doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh with an emphasis in Administrative & Policy Studies/Higher Education Administration. Dr. Myles has worked in several areas of athletics at the University of Connecticut, University of Pittsburgh, San Jose State University, and most recently at Delaware State University as an assistant athletics director where she performed duties as a sport supervisor, worked with academic support and compliance, and counseled student-athletes.
SBU President, Dr. C. Pat Taylor stated, We're very fortunate and pleased that Dr. Renae Myles has joined our athletics staff. She brings outstanding academic credentials as well as experience in Division I athletics. She will be a great asset in both our athletic and academic programs."
Dr. Myles commented on her new position, "I am extremely excited to become part of the SBU family. I don't think you can find a more visionary president than Dr. Taylor or a more dedicated athletic director than Mr. Good. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to serve SBU student-athletes alongside these great leaders."
