KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The SBU Bearcats lost a chance to move into fourth place in the MIAA by losing to Truman State, 60-53

SBU, who had its best shooting game of the season last Tuesday, shot only 32.8% today, which was more than 30 percentage points lower than their output just one game ago.

The story today, in particular, was cold Bearcat three point shooting.

The Bearcats missed their first 17 attempts from the three point line. For the game, they shot 5-29 for 17.2%. Jason Jemison, Colt Blair, and Jared Young, three of SBU’s normally potent 3-point threats, were a combined 2-17 from the arc.

Defensively, the Bearcats were able to hold Truman to 60 points – nearly 10 points below Truman’s average – and more than 15 points below what SBU has given up this season. It was obvious, from their first three trips of the second half, that SBU’s defensive pressure had picked up. But SBU never got on track tonight on the offensive end.

Jim Grabowski was the only Bearcat in double figures, scoring 10.

Rebounds were a virtual wash tonight: (SBU 45, TSU 47).

SBU falls to 12-9, and evens its MIAA record at 6-6.

They host Washburn on February 6 with a 7:45 scheduled tip.
