MARYVILLE, MO -- The Bearcats lost a physical game in Maryville tonight to the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats, 63-68.

Northwest’s largest lead was 11, which came with 8:00 to play in the first half. But SBU roared back, on a string of treys from Jason Jemison, to take a 2-point lead at the half.

At the half, Jemison had shot 5-8 from the three-point line, and looked to build on his 17 points in the second half.

But SBU had a cold start to the second half. They didn’t score until the 15:05 mark when Luke Folkerts dropped a three. Their next (2nd) score in the half was at the 13:30 mark, when Matt Rogers also made a three-pointer. SBU used that momentum to climb back into the game, tying it at the 10:20 mark and taking the lead with 6 minutes to play.

During the last 6 minutes, Northwest outscored SBU 15-8 for the win.

There were 4 lead changes tonight, and 5 ties.

Jemison finished with 26 points. Jared Young added 13. Luke Folkerts added 9 on a trio of treys.

SBU shot 34.4% from the field on 22-64. They shot 34.1% from the arc on 15-44.

SBU moves to 11-8 overall and 5-5 in the MIAA. Their next game is against Missouri Western, at home, on Tuesday, January 30. Tipoff is scheduled at 7:45.
