The SBU Bearcats won their third straight at the expense of the Washburn University Ichabods. Washburn looked very much in control, building a 15-point in the second half with 14 minutes to play. But from that point, SBU outscored Washburn 34-12. It took only 2 minutes, 20 seconds to cut the Ichabod lead to 5. The Bearcats began using their full court press to force turnovers, and went on a furious run that the Ichabods just couldn't stop.

After the game, Coach Jeff Guiot remarked that "lots of teams make comebacks. But good teams make comebacks and win. This is the second consecutive game in which we've made a comeback and won. I'm proud of our kids. We're growing. This was a tough comeback on the road."

Washburn entered the game with the MIAA's weakest offense, but they scored 44 first-half points, hitting 8 three-pointers along the way. SBU held the Ichabods, however, to only 25 second-half points.

Jim Grabowski led all scoring with 19. Jared Young and Jason Jemison each added 15.

SBU improved their record to 9-6, 3-3 MIAA.

The Bearcats' next game is this Saturday, January 20, against Truman State. Tipoff is scheduled at 3:30 in Bolivar.
