BOLIVAR, MO -- The SBU Bearcats were defeated by the University of Central Missouri Mules, 77-66, in a MIAA contest on Tuesday night.

Jim Grabowski led SBU in scoring for the third time in the last four games.
The SBU crowd was silenced early, as they watched the Mules reel off the first nine points of the game. SBU trailed by as many as 17. But with 5:30 to go in the first half, SBU began a 7-minute comeback and outscored UCM 16-3 to cut the Mule lead to only 4. UCM answered, however, with a string of 3-pointers, and stretched the lead back to 17 with 14 minutes to play.

The Bearcats managed another late rally, getting within 5, but found themselves down by 11 at the final buzzer.

UCM had three players in double figures. Darryl Sommerset and Alonzo Brooks had 17 each. Zack Wright (MIAA Player of the Week once in December) added 15.

SBU's record is now 6-6, 0-3 in MIAA action. They travel to Fort Hays State on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled at 7:30.
