Erika Souza hit winning layup with less than a second remaining to lift SBU over Arkansas-Monticello by the score of 78-77.

It was the second consecutive game the Lady 'Cats won with a last-second shot. This one lifted them to 5-0 for the year.

After rebounding a key miss with only 6 seconds left, Amber Wheeler made a quick pass to Courtney Creed, who passed to Souza for the winning layup. Coach Jim Middleton was very impressed that during that key sequence, "the ball never hit the floor."

Middleton was also "impressed with the team's poise for the second consecutive game."

Wheeler led the Lady 'Cat scoring attack with 24. Rachel Graves added 14. Souza added 11.

Although SBU only shot 44% from the field, they were 50% from 3-point land and 20-23 from the line.

The Lady 'Cats are in action again on December 4, with a home game against Central Methodist. Game time is 6:00 pm.
