BOLIVAR, MO. ... Adding to an already talented class, Southwest Baptist University women's soccer coach Ben Wade has signed a top player from Ireland. The class now has 25 players for the 2006 season.
Coming from Ireland, Sinead Tucker has had an international career playing for the Ireland International teams.
"Sinead is a incredibly gifted player," says Wade. "She has a strong, physical, and excellent shot. She is the final piece of the puzzle for our 2006 squad !"
Tucker has been playing for the Ireland International teams the past six years. She was a member of the Irish International U17 team from 2000 through 2004 and then moved onto the U19 team the past two years. She has also played for the Province-Leinster, a U16 team, where she was the captain, won a tournament, and was the top goal scorer.
In club, she has played 10 years for Peamount United. They are currently ranked 2nd in the country and play in the Irish Women's Premier League. Her team won the U18 Ireland Cup and were runners-up twice. They were also runners-up in the Senior Level Ireland Cup.
For her talents, she was named the Young Player of the Year in 2001 and the Players Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003. In the 2004-05 season, she was a member of the Arsenal Academy.
SBU opens up the season on August 26 against West Texas A&M in Bolivar.
