BOLIVAR, MO. ... Taking the series two games to one, Southwest Baptist University improved to 13-9 on the year with a 4-2 win over Minnesota State University-Mankato.  SBU split the games yesterday with the Mavericks.

Ian Murray went five innings for the win to improve to 2-2 while J.R. Smith finished the last four innings to pick up his first save of the year.

MSU-M took a 1-0 lead in the third inning to break the scoreless tie.  SBU then had back-to-back innings of two runs each to take a 4-1 lead.

SBU scored their first two runs in the fifth inning to take the lead 2-1.  Kevin Miller singled to right center field with two outs to score Casey Martin to tie the game.  Just two pitches later, Joel Gould scored on a passed ball to give SBU the 2-1 lead.

Joel Gould had two RBI vs. MSU-Mankato.
In the sixth inning with two outs, Gould singled to right field with the bases loaded and brought home both Casey and Chris Martin for a thre-run advantage, 4-1.

MSU-M homered in the top of the ninth to make it 4-2 but Smith got the last batter to ground out and finish the game.

Gould, Spencer Wilkins, and Casey Martin were all 2-of-4 in the game.  Gould had two RBI while Miller had the other.

SBU will host #11 Central Missouri State in a double header on Tuesday, March 28, at 12 p.m.
