[Game 1] [Game 2]

BOLIVAR, MO. ... In two dramatic games, Southwest Baptist University fell twice to the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 1-0 and 7-4.

GAME 1

The firs seven innings were scoreless for each team until the top of the 8th inning when UMSL's Stephanie Kelly hit a homerun over the leftfield fence.

Stephanie Martin pitched three perfect innings as UMSL picked up their first hit of the game in the 4th inning.  They did not get a hit again until the 7th inning and then homered in the 8th.

SBU had four hits as Tara Phillips was 2-of-3.  Amanda Orchard and Cheratin Dunn each had a hit.

Martin pitched the entire game as she struck out seven batters in the loss.

GAME 2

What looked like a run away game for SBU turned into a three-run win for UMSL.  SBU took a commanding 4-0 lead in the first four innings of the game.

Dunn brought in Rebecca Cook with a single in the first inning and then in the third inning Mary Nguyen came home on an error by the third baseman.

SBU scored two more in the fourth inning to make it 4-0.  Amy Marshall tripled home both Stephanie Martin and Phillips for the third and fourth runs of the game.

After that inning, UMSL scored seven straight runs in the next three innings.  They had two in the fifth and sixth and then three in the seventh.

Lyndsey Fisher took the loss as she pitched the final 2.1 innings.  Michelle Thompson started the game and went 4.2 innings with three strikeouts.
