BOLIVAR, MO. ... In another exciting series at the SBU Softball Field, Southwest Baptist University took game two after falling in game one to Northern State.  SBU is now 8-4 on the year.

Not scoring any runs in game one, SBU answered with four runs in game two to split the series with Northern State.

Game 1

Leaving eight runners on base, SBU did not bring in any runs as NSU scored in the second and fifth innings.  There were four different innings that SBU had runners in scoring position and could not bring them in.

SBU had a total of six hits and no errors.  Lyndsey Fisher took the loss as she pitched 4.2 innings and had four strikeouts.

Game 2

Waiting until the bottom of the sixth inning to make a statement, SBU scored three runs to take a 4-2 lead and then the win.  With the bases loaded, senior Cheratin Dunn cleared all three bases with a double to left field to make it 4-2.

SBU took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning when Stephanie Martin singled home Tara Phillips.  NSU scored a run in the fifth and sixth innings to take the 2-1 lead before Dunn's hit in the bottom of the 6th.

Stephanie Martin won her 4th game of the year in game 2.
Stephanie Martin went the distance and recorded two strikeouts and no walks.  Both Rebecca Cook and Phillips were 2-of-3 on the day.

SBU will play in the MSSU Tournament this weekend in Joplin.
