Three talented transfers heading to SBU

BOLIVAR, MO. ... Being national championship contenders is head coach Ben Wade's goal for Southwest Baptist University women's soccer as he has added three more tranfers to help the team.  Three international players will be joining SBU for the 2006 season.

Tranferring in as a NSCAA all-American and junior college all-American, Fivi Mihai (Tecumseh, Ontario) comes to SBU from Johnson County Community College.  She was an all-Region First-Team selection while also being an NJCAA honorable mention all-American.  She garnered National Player of the Week this year from the NJCAA when she scored four goals and had three assists in three straight wins in teh Region VI Tournament.  This season she ranked 30th in the NJCAA in scoring with 17 goals and 11 assists.

Joining Mihai on the team will be two Brazilians coming to SBU from Lassen Community College.  Both Kate Kelly Souza and Aline Lopes will bring more talent to the team. 

Souza, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was a junior college all-American at Lassen C.C.  She was an all-Conference player that finished in the top 10 in scoring for the state of California junior colleges.  In Brazil, she was a member of the under 19 Brazilian National Team.

Lopes, also from Sao Paulo, was a teammate of Souza's at Lassen C.C. where she was a goalie.  She was also named all-Conference and is a member of the U 19 Brazilian National Team.

These three transfers bring the class total to 18 for the 2006 season.

Kate Kelly Souza

Jr. / Sao Paulo, Brazil / Lassen Community College / Forward

 

LC: All-Conference…Junior College all-American…Was in top 10 scoring charts in California for junior college players…Played for the Brazil U-19 team...Also played for GFC team in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
