BOLIVAR, MO. ... Livia Brito's fifth double-double of the year was not enough to take down #1 Washburn University as Southwest Baptist University dropped the second meeting of the year, 84-47.  SBU is now 10-13 on the year.

"We’re going to play hard no matter what.  It is encouraging for our team right now because of how hard they play," says head coach Jim Middleton.  "These next four games are huge.  We’ve only got four games for sure left. Right now it is between us and Truman and I don’t want it to come down to that.”

Brito led SBU with 18 points and 11 rebounds as she was the only player in double figures.  Casey Beavers had eight points for SBU.  WU's Jennifer Harris led all scorers with 28 points as she had 20 in the first half.

WU led from the beginning but the Lady Bearcats kept fighting the whole way.  In the first five minutes of the game, SBU battled with the Lady Blues to within five points, 14-9.  In the next 10 minutes, WU put together a 24-4 run for a 25-piont lead, 38-13.  WU's defense only allowed two SBU made shots in that time.  They took a 19-point lead into the half, 41-22.

In the second half, WU slowly increased their lead as they went on for the victory.

SBU was held to just 29% shooting from the floor as WU made 47% of their shots.  WU also out rebounded SBU, 50-33.

The Lady Bearcats will travel to Warrensburg, Missouri, on Wednesday to take on Central Missouri State at 5:30 p.m.
