| Sheldon Pace was name the MIAA Player of the Week for the 3rd time this season. |
OVERLAND PARK, KS. ... Bob Cousy finalist Sheldon Pace picked up his third MIAA Player of the Week award as he combined for 12.5 points per game, 9.5 assists, and 7.0 rebounds in two MIAA games. This third award ties Central Missouri State's Michael Hicks for the most MIAA Player of the Week awards this season.
Pace, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound senior from Los Angeles, Calif., averaged 12.5 points, 9.5 assists and 7.0 rebounds in helping the No. 11 Bearcats to secure a berth in the MIAA Postseason Tournament with two road wins last week.
He hit his second game-winning shot in eight days when his jumper with twoseconds to go against Western gave SBU a 77-75 win last Saturday (Feb. 4). He finished with 21 points (17 coming in the second half and eight in the final 5:43), five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Though he was held to four points in the Bearcats’ 75-59 win at Missouri Southern on Wednesday (Feb. 1), he logged the MIAA’s first rebounds-assists double-double of the season with 14 helpers and 10 boards. All 10 of his rebounds were on the defensive end of the court, and the 14 assists are bettered only by the 17 he had vs. Central Missouri State earlier in the season.
Earlier this week he was named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award on Thursday (Feb. 2). He is a graduate of Upland High School and transferred to SBU from Chaffey (Calif.) Community College.
