Shooting woes for Lady 'Cats end in loss

BOLIVAR, MO. ... WIth 13:35 left in the first half, Southwest Baptist Unviersity (9-9/1-6) cut Missouri Western's (14-4/4-3) lead to two, 9-7, before the Lady Griffons went on a 30-7 run over 11 minutes for a commanding 25-point lead.  MWSU went on to win the game, 79-37.

SBU had three players with seven points in Traci Bybee, Courtney Creed, and Cortney Shewmaker.  Casey Beavers led SBU with five rebounds.  Jill Johnson led MWSU with 18 points. 

SBU shot only 25% in the first half to MWSU's 51% as the Lady Griffons took the lead with the 30-7 run in the first half.  SBU never recovered from the MWSU run. 

The Lady Bearcats shot only 26% overall and 39% from the free throw line while MWSU shot 49% overall and 43% from three-point range.  MWSU also outrebounded SBU, 40-36 and forced 24 turnovers.

SBU will host Missouri Southern at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, in the Meyer Sports Center.
