OMAHA, Neb. --
SBU soccer was shut out for the first time this season against the MIAA-leading Nebraska-Omaha Mavs, falling 3-0.

The Bearcats were able to keep the conference leader in goals
(Nicole Baier) off the scoresheet, but after giving up a goal in the seventh minute, were not able to come back. Nebraska-Omaha outshot the SBU 12-7; the first time the Bearcats were outshot since the season opener against Quincy.

The Mavs got on the board early on, when Jessica Powers struck one past the keeper for the 1-0 lead. The rest of the first half went scoreless, as both teams only had five combined shots on goal. The second half continued to be a defensive struggle, until the Mavs scored two quick goals in the 74th and 75th minutes to put the game away for good.

The Bearcats fall to 3-3 in the MIAA, and 5-3-1 for the season. Nebraska-Omaha stays atop the MIAA standings with a 5-1 record, and improves to 6-4 overall. SBU finished the four-game road trip, and will host Truman State this Saturday, October 3rd, in Bolivar. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
