Pierce earns second straight MIAA Runner of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- SBU's Michael Pierce helped the Bearcats win the Division II portion of the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday with a first place finish. For those efforts and for the second straight week, he was named MIAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Pierce placed first at the University of Minnesota's 24th annual Roy Griak Invitational with an 8K time of 25:22.20. Pierce led after three kilometers, fell back to ninth after five kilometers, then came back to win. He ran a 5:07 mile pace.

The Bearcats will next compete at
the GLVC vs. MIAA Classic, held in Rolla, Mo., on Saturday, October 10th. The start time for the 6K women's race will be 10 a.m. while the men's 8K race will begin at 10:45 a.m.
