BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- The SBU Bearcat golf team took eighth at the 11th Annual Northeastern State Classic with sophomore Matt Buschman earning a tie for seventh place in the individual standings.

Monday's first round action was suspended due to thunderstorms so the competing teams played extra on Tuesday to complete the tournament. SBU shot a 622 (313-309) to place eighth among 15 squads. Central Missouri won the event with a score of 595 (298-297).

Buschman, a sophomore from Washington, Mo., shot a first round 79 before coming back strong with a even par 72 to finish at 151. Senior Brad Nipper shot a 79-75 for a 154 and tied for 20th while fellow senior Justin Sellin went 75-80 for 155 and tied for 27th. UCM's Justin Yoder was the individual medalist with a 142 (71-71).

The Bearcats are off next week before returning to action on October 5 and 6 at the Fort Hays Invitational in Hays, Kansas. The meet will take place at the Smoky Hills Country Club.
