BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The SBU softball Bearcats recently completed one of their most successful seasons in the last quarter century, after setting 15 various school records.

By ending the year with a sweep of Northwest Missouri State, SBU compiled 23 wins in 2009, the most since the 1982 squad recorded 27 victories. The team's success under third-year coach Christy Capner was highlighted during a six-game winning streak in late March, the longest win streak of the decade.

The Bearcats had one of their finest offensive seasons in program history, as they set or tied seven different major records:

Home Runs - 28
Runs Scored - 199
Hits - 383
RBI - 166
Stolen Bases - 59
Doubles - 60  (tied with 2000 season)
At-Bats - 1,446

Sophomore Krysta Baderdeen had one of the best individual seasons in SBU history in 2009, as she broke the school record for hits in a season with 68. Krysta also tied the mark for home runs in a season with eight, the most for any Bearcat since Lynda Matchell in 1981.

SBU's all-time home run mark was also broken this season, as McKenzie Mortimer hit an inside-the-park home run in February against Henderson State. McKenzie finished the year with three home runs, setting the career record with 15.

Both players recently earned All-MIAA honors, with Mortimer gaining second team and Baderdeen earning honorable mention.

Josie Rose also set new career records in her second season at SBU. Josie increased her school record of strikeouts per seven innings, from 6.3 after her freshman year, to 6.81. She also became SBU's all-time strikeout leader during the final series against NWMSU, and now has 360 strikeouts for her career. The former record of 358, was set by Nickie Bumgarner over the course of four seasons and 617 innings pitched. Rose was able to surpass that mark in just two seasons, and in only 370 innings pitched. The highlight of Rose's sophomore campaign came on April 22 against Missouri S&T, when she tossed a no-hitter and struck out 10.

Three individual single-game records were also tied this season:

Runs scored in a game  -  3  -  (tied 21 times, most recently by Nina Amaro Garcia)
Most RBI in a game  -  6  -  (tied 4 times, most recently by Taressa Gomez)
Most doubles in a game  - 2  -  (tied 17 times, most recently by Nina Amaro Garcia)
