SBU Bearcat men's tennis player Emilio El Alabi has been named to the CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII At-Large second team.

El Alabi, a senior from Bahia Blanca, Buenos Aries, Argentina, carries a 3.79 GPA in economics and finance. He is a three-time Academic All-MIAA member and two-time member of the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. El Alabi has also been a member of the MIAA Presidential Scholars (4.0) List and is a two-time ITA Scholar Athlete.

El Alabi has also earned numerous All-MIAA honors, including first team this season at #2 singles, which was the third time he earned first team honors from the conference. He was part of the 2008 MIAA championship team and was an NCAA Tournament participant in the last two years. He was a member of the 2007 North Central Region doubles championship team and was also named North Central Region Freshman of the Year in 2006.

"This is a well-deserved honor," said head coach John Bryant. "Emilio has made great contributions to our program over the last four years. He's a true student-athlete. He's been honored for his play on the court and his hard work in the classroom."

CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) was founded in 1957. There were 102 members at the original meetings; since that time, CoSIDA has grown to over 2,300 members in the United States and Canada.
