SBU track earns provisionals at ESU Twilight meet

EMPORIA, Kan. -- At the Emporia State ATG Sports Twilight Qualifer, the SBU outdoor track and field squad picked up two provisionals in the last chance event prior to NCAA nationals.

Sarah Bowling took first in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 6.5 inches, improving her NCAA provisional mark. She now ranks sixth in the nation. Bowling also just missed a provisional in the long jump with a third place jump of 18 feet, 5 inches. Jenny Blair took second in the 200 meters with a time of 25.12 and third in the 400 meters with a time of 57.44. Jennifer Gillespie scored a provisional in the 400 meter hurdles with a mark of 1:02.61.

Jeremy Glassmaker took first in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:54.36. Robert Barrow placed second in the 200 meters at 22.14. Vince Tichenor placed eighth in the 800 meters at 1:55.05.

SBU will learn Tuesday who will compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The event will be held in San Angelo, Texas on May 21-23 at Angelo State University.
