ROLLA, Mo. -- SBU's Josie Rose no-hit the Missouri S&T Miners, as the Bearcats took the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader 1-0. The Miners won the first game 4-1.

Josie Rose holds the SBU record for single season strikeouts with 187 in 2008.
Rose, a 5-10 sophomore from Belton, Mo., struck out 10 for the game, including the last batter to seal the no-hitter. The victory was Rose's 13th of the year.

SBU's lone run came in the fifth when Krysta Baderdeen hit her sixth homer of the season. Baderdeen, Aleece Nalbandian and Thelmeca Chambers each had two hits for the Bearcats (21-33).

Game one saw the host Miners (18-25) get two runs in the first and second innings. SBU would get a run in the fourth on a sac fly from Sarah Brison that scored Taressa Gomez. Nina Amaro Garcia came in relief for the Bearcats, and threw four scoreless innings while striking out three.

"Josie had a tremendous day," said head coach Christy Capner. "We came out flat in the opener, but Nina came in and pitched well. After several close games this year, it was great to see Josie break through and get the no-hitter."

Rose's no-no came less than a week after nearly no-hitting Washburn last Thursday. She took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning, before it was broken up with one out by WU's Ashley Podschun, who would later come around to score the winning run.

SBU returns home this weekend to close out regular season MIAA action. They'll host Nebraska-Omaha on Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday's visitor will be Northwest Missouri State, also for a twinbill that begins at noon.
