BOLIVAR, Mo. -- In their final regular season home match of the year, the SBU women's tennis team defeated Missouri-St. Louis 6-3. The win evened the Bearcats' record at 8-8 heading into the MIAA Championships this weekend in Kansas City.
Johanna Olsson, Jenna Hendrickson, senior Trish Moceo, and Sarah Sentlinger picked up singles wins against the Tritons. Jolee Cook and Olsson won in #1 doubles as did the Moceo/Hendrickson pairing at #2 doubles.
The Bearcats' opponent in the MIAA Championships is still to be determined. Washburn won the league and currently, there is a three-way tie for second between Truman, Northwest Missouri and Nebraska-Omaha. This weekend's action will take place at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City. The tennis teams will practice at the facility April 24, with the competition beginning the next morning at 8:30 a.m. for the women and 10 a.m. for the men. All nine MIAA women's teams and six MIAA men's teams will be in action on day one.
