ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The SBU baseball Bearcats fell twice Friday at Missouri Western, losing 5-2 and 15-0.

Game one had the Bearcats (8-32, 6-22 MIAA) jump on top when Kyle Tormanen scored on an error by the MWSU shortstop. After a Griffon run in the bottom of the second tied the game, SBU got an RBI groundout from Kyle Wise that plated Justin Barnhart. The Griffons (25-21, 14-16 MIAA) would counter with a run in the third and three in the fifth. Both teams managed just four hits apiece.

The second game was all Missouri Western as the Griffons scored seven runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and seven more in the sixth to run-rule the Bearcats. Barnhart got the only two SBU hits off Western starter Blake Thomas, who struck out eight in seven innings. Western got grand slams from Danny Conners and Brady Ellis.

The Bearcats return home next weekend, April 24 and 25, when they host Northwest Missouri State in a four-game series. Friday's doubleheader action begins at 1:00 p.m. with Saturday's Senior Day games starting at noon.
