ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The SBU softball Bearcats dropped two road contests Friday afternoon versus Missouri Western. The MIAA co-league leading Griffons took game one, 7-5, and game two, 9-4. With the two wins, the Griffons extended their MIAA record winning streak to 32 consecutive victories.

Katrina Munoz got things off to a good start in the first game, with a home run to lead off the contest. But the Griffons (35-4, 8-0 MIAA) would respond with two in the bottom half of the inning. After three runs by the home MWSU squad in the fourth and one in the fifth, the Bearcats (16-28, 1-9 MIAA) would get four runs in the top half of the sixth inning. Krysta Baderdeen would double to right field to score BreAnn Proctor. McKenzie Mortimer would single and score on an error that would also plate Baderdeen and Taressa Gomez.

Munoz went 2-for-3 to lead SBU. MWSU's Allison Jones threw seven innings to improve to 19-1 on the season.

Missouri Western jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Bearcats scored three in the third. Aleece Nalbandian and Gomez would both reach on MWSU errors and would later score in the inning. Munoz would also score during the rally. Baderdeen would drive in a run with a single. Nina Amaro Garcia would also add a solo home run in the sixth inning.

The Bearcats will go from one side of the state to the other on Saturday (tomorrow), as they take on Truman for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Kirksville, Mo.
