MACOMB, Ill. -- The #22 SBU Bearcat men's tennis team had a great weekend on the road, as they defeated two Division I squads. On Saturday, SBU topped Western Illinois 5-2 and Chicago State 6-1.
Marton Zsiga, Emilio El Alabi, Jorge Margiotta, and Tyler Welch scored singles wins. Both dual matches were played under Division I rules, where doubles matches count as one point. The Bearcats took two of three doubles to earn the point against the Leathernecks.

In the second contest, the Bearcats topped the Chicago State Cougars 6-1. Singles winners for the Bearcats included El Alabi, Agustin Mollar, Margiotta, Jorge Palacios and Welch. SBU also took two of three in doubles to win the doubles point.

SBU (9-6, 2-1 MIAA) hosts Emporia State next Friday (April 10) in MIAA action beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Bearcats will also host Washburn next Saturday (April 11) beginning at 10:00 a.m.
