BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The SBU baseball Bearcats fall in a doubleheader, 4-3 and 9-2 to Central Missouri.

Freshman pitcher Wes Burrell had a strong outing in the opener, going five and a third innings, while giving up just four hits and two earned runs, and striking out five.

After an early run for the Mules, SBU answered back in the bottom of the first. After Bo Helsel reached base on a fielder's choice, the freshman from Branson stole second, advanced to third on a single by Kyle Wise, then scored on Justin Barnhart's groundout.

Central Missouri jumped ahead to a 3-1 lead after runs in the third and sixth innings. Wise, who was 2-for-3 in the game, knocked a two-run home run over the left field wall to tie the game at three. However, another run for the Mules in the seventh inning proved to be the game winner.

The SBU offense struggled in the second game, striking out a total of 19 times. Barnhart had the best game at the plate for the Bearcats, going 3-for-4 with a run, an RBI, and a pair of doubles.

Next up for the Bearcats are the Missouri Southern Lions, on Tuesday, April 7th, in Bolivar. The doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
