BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The SBU baseball Bearcats returned home to face the Central Missouri Mules, but dropped both games of Friday's doubleheader. The Mules took game one 8-0, and took game two 12-2.
The Bearcat bats were shut down in game one by Mules' starter Danny Potje, who gave up two hits and no runs, while striking out eight. Kyle Wise and Bo Helsel got the only hits for the Bearcats (7-23, 5-16 MIAA). The Mules (19-9, 11-7 MIAA) were led by Chance Tuttle, who homered and drove in four.
Game two saw UCM get out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the second inning before SBU would get single runs in the bottom of the second and third innings.UCM would tack on three in the fourth, two in the sixth and four in the seventh to run rule the Bearcats. Jason Asher homered for the Bearcats while Justin Crumpley had two hits including a double. Jon Wegener drove in five for the Mules.
The two squads are back at tomorrow (Saturday) for the conclusion of the four-game series. First pitch is 12:00 p.m. with the first game scheduled for seven innings and the nightcap for nine innings.
