JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The SBU softball Bearcats dropped two heartbreakers Tuesday at Lincoln, falling 6-5 and 10-9 to the Blue Tigers.

The Bearcats led 5-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh, before the Blue Tigers rallied to score six runs to win the opener.

SBU got a home run from Taressa Gomez to start the game. Stephanie Rodriguez would double to score McKenzie Mortimer in the second inning. After Katrina Munoz drew a one-out walk in the third, Krysta Baderdeen and Nina Amaro Garcia would follow with back-to-back home runs. Baderdeen would lead SBU, going 3-for-4 in the first game with two RBI.

Game two saw a back and forth battle between the two squads. Lincoln led 1-0 before SBU got two runs in the third on a 2-run single from Sarah Brison. The 'Cats would get another in the fourth on an RBI single from Munoz.

Lincoln would counter with two runs in the bottom of the fourth before SBU would tally three in the fifth, on a bases-loaded double from Gomez that scored three runs. The Blue Tigers would cut the score to 6-4 Bearcats with a run in the bottom half of the fifth inning. LU would take the lead 7-6 with three runs in the sixth.

SBU would rally in the seventh inning, behind a three-run homer from Gomez, and led 9-7 heading to the last of the seventh. But Lincoln would stage another last inning comeback, scoring three times to beat the Bearcats. Lincoln would score the game winner in both games with two outs in the seventh inning.

Gomez drove in six runs for the Bearcats and was 2-for-4. Thelmeca Chambers and Rodriguez also had two hits for the 'Cats.

SBU is now 16-20 on the season while Lincoln is 10-25 overall. SBU hosts Missouri Southern on Friday and Pittsburg State on Saturday. Both day's doubleheaders begin at 2:00 p.m. The Pitt State games will be Senior Day for the Bearcats.
