HAYS, Kan. -- The SBU Bearcats dropped the final game of a four-game series with the Fort Hays Tigers, falling 18-8 in seven innings.
The Tigers swept the four-game set, which was rescheduled several times due to weather. FHSU took all three games in a rare tripleheader on Thursday.
Fort Hays (18-16, 10-10 MIAA) jumped on top in the first inning, scoring five in the first. The Tigers would score in all six innings, before run-ruling the Bearcats (7-20, 5-13 MIAA).
SBU got single runs in the first and second before scoring six in the sixth inning. The 'Cats got RBI hits from Jason Asher and Justin Crumpley, along with a pinch-hit two-run homer from Kyle Howell and a two-run double from Kyle Tormanen. Justin Barnhart and Bo Helsel each had two hits on the day for SBU.
The Bearcats travel to Kansas City on Tuesday for a makeup nine-inning contest with the Rockhurst Hawks at 6:00 p.m.
