BOLIVAR, Mo. --  The Bearcat offense produced only three runs over two games, as SBU dropped two decisions, 8-0 and 13-3, to Nebraska-Omaha.

The Mavs pitching was hard to beat in the opening game, with Omaha starter Chris Kessinger throwing a complete game, while only allowing three hits. SBU starter Greg Seay had a shaky first inning, allowing two runs, before settling down throughout the middle of the game. Three runs in the fifth inning, followed by two more in the sixth for the Mavs, however, put the game out of reach.

The second game was a little better at the plate for the Bearcats, but UNO was again able to take a big lead early in the game that would only grow through the rest of the game. Freshman left fielder Bo Helsel went 3-for-5, including a triple in the seventh inning. Helsel also scored two of the Bearcats' three runs. Second baseman Kyle Tormanen and third baseman Justin Barnhart both went 2-for-4, Barnhart with an RBI in the fifth inning.

The two losses drop SBU to 5-7 in the conference, and 7-14 overall. Nebraska-Omaha, third in the conference coming into the matchup, improves to 8-4 in the MIAA, and 18-9 overall.

The Bearcats face the UNO Mavericks again, Saturday March 21st, in a doubleheader starting at noon.
