EMPORIA, Kan. -- The SBU softball Bearcats dropped a pair of games on Friday afternoon at the Emporia State AAUW Softball Showcase. The Bearcats fell to Tarleton State 4-0 in game one and 9-0 in five innings to Nebraska-Omaha.

Dominant pitching from the opponents silenced the Bearcat bats for the day. Tarleton's Lauren Zearfoss scattered four hits, while walking two and striking out four. UNO's Meli Negrette one-hit SBU in game two and struck out four and walked one.

Sarah Brison went 2-for-3 in game one against the TexAnns. Josie Rose threw all six innings in the opener but was tagged for four runs and eight hits. Nina Amaro Garcia got the only SBU hit in game two and also pitched five innings in relief.

The Bearcats are now 8-11 on the season and play Augustana College at 11:00 a.m., Southwestern Oklahoma at 4:00 p.m., and the host Emporia State at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
