INDIANAPOLIS - Five SBU athletes were named as participants for the 2009 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships when the field was named by the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee.
Michael Pierce qualified in the one mile run while Shawn Etzenhouser earned a spot in the 800 meters. Pierce and Etzenhouser were also part of the distance medley relay that qualified and included Jeremy Glassmaker and Nathaniel Rogers. Sarah Bowling qualified in the triple jump, after her performance last weekend at the MIAA Championships.
A total of 400 participants will compete in the championships.
Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching an
automatic standard established for each event with additional
selections taken from the field of provisional qualifiers.
The championships will be held March 13-14 in Houston, Texas at
Yeoman Field House. The University of Houston will serve as the host
of the championships and will be a part of the 2009 NCAA Division II
Winter National Championships Festival.
