LAWTON, Okla. -- The
#22 SBU Bearcats split a pair of weekend matches with nationally ranked
opponents, falling to #28 Midwestern State 5-4 on Friday before topping
#33 East Central 7-2 on Saturday, in action held at Cameron University.
Marton Zsiga, Emilio El Alabi and Jorge Palacios picked up singles wins against Midwestern State while the Zsiga / El Alabi duo also scored a doubles win in the match.
In Saturday's action versus East Central (who was a last-minute replacement for St. Mary's (Texas), Zsiga and El Alabi picked up both singles and doubles wins, as did Palacios and Jorge Margiotta. Agustin Mollar also earned a singles win for the Bearcats against ECU.
The Bearcats (2-3) fell to the host #6 Cameron University on Friday in afternoon action.
SBU hosts Johnson County (KS) Community College for their first men's and women's home matches of 2009 this Tuesday starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Bryant Tennis Center.
