SBU NOTES | UNO NOTES

The SBU Bearcats return to the Meyer Sports Center to face the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks, in what has turned into a pivotal game for the Bearcats' MIAA Tournament hopes. SBU lost to UNO last month in Omaha, 85-72, and need a win and a Missouri Western loss, as several teams vie for the final two spots in the MIAA Tournament. UNO is currently riding a four-game winning streak, most recently coming off a win against Central Missouri at home. SBU is currently in a eight-game slide, their last win coming at home against Northwest Missouri State.

Courtney Creed leads the Bearcats with 16.5 points per game and ranks second in the MIAA. Creed is sixth in field goal percentage (44.0%). Courtney Shewmaker (4th - 3.83) and Rachel Graves (8th - 3.42) rank in the MIAA top ten in assists. Graves also ranks seventh in treys made (1.96), with Creed in eighth (1.88). The trio also ranks among the top six (Shewmaker-3th, 1.51; Graves-4th, 1.39; Creed-5th, 1.30) in assist-to-turnover ratio. SBU leads the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.01), three-point percentage (38.4%), and three-pointers made (9.13/gm). The Bearcats rank third nationally in treys per game (9.00) and 11th in fewest turnovers per game (15.0).

THE COACHES AND THE ALL-TIME SERIES
After the Bearcats loss in Omaha this season, the all-time series is tied 2-2. J.C. Carter is in his first season as SBU head coach. Patty Patton-Shearer is in her fifth year at UNO, after serving four seasons as the head coach at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, where she won four straight division titles and was twice named RMAC coach of the year.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
The Mavericks are led in scoring by Amanda Brodsack (13.0 PPG). Also in double figures for UNO is Cayla Hargrove (11.6), and Alyssa Green (11.0). Green ranks third in the MIAA in steals, at 2.65 per game, while Brodsack is third in rebounds in the conference with 8.0 boards per game.
