Softball drops opener of Midwestern State Invite

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The SBU softball Bearcats fell to West Texas A&M 9-1 on Thursday night at the Midwestern State Invitational.

SBU (4-5) scored its lone run when Katrina Munoz scored on a wild pitch after hitting a two-out triple in the top of the fifth.

West Texas A&M (9-1) scored six runs in the fifth inning to win by run-rule. WT's Erin Hartigan went 2-for-2 with an RBI triple.

SBU plays Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. against Texas Woman's University and then later plays Lincoln University at 3:00 p.m.
