KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The SBU Bearcats ran their record to 4-0, defeating the Rockhurst Hawks, 101-73, in day one of the Rock U Harversters Classic.

SBU’s Matt Rogers scored a career-high 31 points in the game, and grabbed 10 rebounds. Rogers was 11 of 16 from the field, which included a sizzling 5 of 7 from long range.

Other Bearcats in double figures were Wendell Mardis (13 points), Nick Kovacevich (11 points), D’Ante Harris (11 points), Ryan Dougherty (11 points), and John Tiemeyer (10 points).

“We have great respect for the Rockhurst program and their coach,” said SBU’s head coach, Jeff Guiot. “It’s hard to win here. We came in here two years ago and got beat pretty badly. Before the game, I reminded Matt of that, and Matt reminded the team of that. He had a great night, and we kept feeding him.  But it’s important to remember that we win and lose as a team. We had 6 players in double figures today. We shot well, but I thought it was our good passing that opened up our shots.”
“Park (tomorrow’s opponent) is an impressive team. They are well coached, and can put lots of points up. We’ll have to come in here and be ready to play.”

The Bearcats now stand at a perfect 4-0 on the season. They will face Park University at 2:00 tomorrow (Saturday, November 29).
