SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The SBU women lost to Incarnate Word, 73-65, despite a late comeback attempt by the Bearcats.

SBU trailed by 17 (64-47) with 8:30 to play, and went on a 18-9 run to narrow the final gap.

"We dug a hole at the first, but played hard the rest of the game," said SBU's head coach, JC Carter. "We were just cold from the field today, and couldn't get going offensively. Give credit to Incarnate Word - they shot well and they are a good team."

In the first half, SBU shot 37.0% from the field to Incarnate Word's 58.6%. The Bearcats trailed at the half 39-25. For the game, SBU improved their accuracy to 44.3% from the field, and 35.0% from long range.

Courtney Creed scored a team-high 18 points. Darla Gatschenberger grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds.

SBU falls to 1-2 on the season, and will play St. Mary's tomorrow in the final game of the tournament in Texas.
