BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcat cross country teams will travel to the MIAA Championships this weekend to be hosted in Warrensburg, Mo. on the campus of the University of Central Missouri.

SBU’s head coach, Corey McElhaney, believes his teams are in position to have a good race at the conference meet.

"Our men have a good shot at winning the meet if they come out and run to their potential. It all depends on if they can run at 100%. It’s going to be so evenly matched that the top three teams will probably be within 10 points of each other. The race is really anyone’s to win."

"Our women are in a position to have a great race also. A good goal for them would be second place. Southern will be tough to beat - they are ranked #9 in the nation. But there isn’t any reason we can’t be right there behind them, ahead of the rest of the teams in the conference.

"Our top runners on each side, Etz (Shawn Etzenhouser) and Courtney (Ayers) have a great chance to finish very high in their races individually."
