KANSAS CITY -- SBU's Johanna Olsson has been named as the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for Women's Soccer.
Olsson, a 5-foot-8 sophomore from Gothenburg, Sweden, played 210 minutes in goal without allowing a score as the Bearcats went 1-0-1 last week.
She made three saves -- two in the second half -- in a double-overtime scoreless draw with Qunicy (Ill.) Tuesday (Oct. 14).
In the 3-0 win over Missouri Southern Thursday (Oct. 16), Olsson made three saves. All of the stops were in the second half, with two of them preserving a 0-0 tie before SBU would score in the 80th minute.
Olsson, who also plays on the SBU tennis squad, is a graduate of Katrinelund High School.
