KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- SBU's Courtney Ayers has been names as the MIAA Athlete of the Week for Cross Country.

Ayres, a 5-foot-7 sophomore from Maryland Heights, Mo., captured the individual title at the Harding (Ark.) Ted Lloyd Bison Stampede last Saturday (Oct. 11).

She finished the 5-kilometer course with a time of 17 minutes, 42.27 seconds -- nearly 16 seconds ahead of the unattached runner in second and almost 27 seconds better than the nearest collegiate competitor.

Her efforts allowed SBU to place second to the host school, 26-32.

Ayers is a graduate of Pattonville High School.
