BOLIVAR, Mo. – The SBU Bearcats (6-1-1) have a couple of MIAA soccer matches at home this week against Missouri Western (0-7-1) and Truman State (5-1-1-).

The Bearcats are coming off a key 3-game stretch in which they went 1-1-1 against Washburn (win), Nebraska-Omaha (loss), and Truman State (tie). In the Truman match last Saturday.

"As I’ve said all season, we’re taking one game at a time, approaching each contest as the most important of the season," said SBU’s head coach, Benjamin Wade. "We aren’t looking ahead to a match in the future as a key match, anything like that. Everyone is very good in our conference. I want to say that the fans were incredible last week. They had those purple sticks waving like crazy. I’d like to thank all of the coaches, teams, and students who came out and supported us. We’ll do our best to put more points on the board this week to say ‘thank you’ to our great fans.’

The Bearcats are still dominating the MIAA in the offensive categories. Nicola Cousins (30 points, 11 goals, 8 assists) and Rhiane Mitchell (29 points, 12 goals, 5 assists) are the key one-two punch leading the Bearcat attack.

As a team, SBU holds a ‘goals scored’ average of 3.53 to 0.85 over their opponents. They’ve taken 19.9 shots per game to their opponents’ 11.5. SBU has an average attendance of over 300 fans through their first four home games.
