ATHLETIC ALUMNI REUNION

12:30- 1:30

PLASTER STADIUM

NORTH ENDZONE PURPLE AND WHITE BOOSTER TENT

On behalf of the SBU athletics department I would like to invite all of our athletic alumni to join us Saturday, October 11th, as we celebrate Homecoming and the 25th anniversary in the sport of football. In the spring of 1983 Dr. Jim Sells announced SBU would sponsor football and start competing in the fall of 1983. Coach Gary Brandt Sr. was named Head Football Coach and the foundation was set at that time. This past spring SBU athletics launched the Football Alumni Reconnection Campaign. In doing so we have worked hard to update our alumni data bases and have found over one thousand names of former football players since the birth of the program, and recently mailed out information concerning the reconnection campaign. Unfortunately there are over five hundred names we do not have any contact information on.

Today, due to the constant change in technology the method of communication is more through computers and texting . As you can see by our athletics and university website we are able to provide a multitude information about Southwest Baptist University. I encourage you to browse the SBU website to see what is taking place in all facets of the university. By clicking on the Football Alumni Reconnection Campaign link you will see a list of former football players we are trying to gather information on. If you see your name or have information on someone listed, please provide us with information as soon as possible. This will assist, SBU Athletics, Alumni, and University Development offices to "Reconnect". Together our offices will update the database which will enable us to mail, telephone and email information. This will also provide an opportunity to personally meet our alumni at events taking place on or off campus.

One of our goals is to have the entire 1983 team, coaching staff, athletic administration and support staff attend homecoming to celebrate the 25th anniversary of football. A special recognition will take place at half time to recognize the 1983 team as well as all the football alumni from each decade. We are starting with the 1983 football team and all football alumni this fall with the 25 year anniversary. If you were a member of the 1983 team and have not received a mailing please contact us. I encourage and invite all athletic alumni and families to join us Saturday, October 11th for Homecoming at the Purple and White tent at 12:30 -1:30 to reunite with former teammates and the SBU Athletics Administration and Staff prior to the 2:00 PM kick off.

Please contact Vicky Bright, Assistant for Athletics operations and Media Relations at vbright@sbuniv.edu or (417) 328-1799. if you have any contact information of the names listed. I appreciate your help as we work on this campaign.
