Southwest Baptist University Cross Country 24 hour relay

August 18 & 19, 7 PM at the SBU Track

The SBU Cross Country Team began the 24 hour relay in 2007. The relay was started to create a team bonding activity for the cross country athletes and a chance to help raise a little money for various items throughout the year. The relay was a success and proved to be a positive experience for the athletes and also gave the community a chance to support the team in a positive way. A total of 38 athletes will be taking part in the 24 hour relay.

How the Relay works

The relay consists of continual running for 24 hours straight. Athletes from the SBU Cross Country Team will take turns running 1-3 miles each before handing a baton off to the next runner. Each runner will total anywhere from 12-16 miles each. The athletes take part in various games/activities all through the night, until their anticipated time to run.

24 Hour Relay Totals

2007 – 471 team miles / 33 support miles

2008 - ???

Want to Donate?

There are several ways you can donate to the cross country team. The first way is by a specific donation. An example would be a monetary donation of $25 to the cross country team. The second way would be to donate money for each mile ran during the 24 hour relay. An example would be to donate $0.10 per mile, which would equal $47.10 for 471 miles. In addition, if interested anyone may come out to the SBU track and run support miles for the cross country team during the relay. Donations can be mailed to the address below or brought in person to the relay

Awards for donations

For every $25 donated you will receive (1) complimentary 24 Hour relay T-shirt (same T-shirt the runners will receive at the conclusion of the relay.)

Want to run with the team

Anyone is welcome to come and support the cross country team by running a mile. Make sure and fill out the information sheet to let the team know how many miles you ran so we can total the support miles. Every person who runs at least a mile will be entered in a drawing for a 24 hour relay T-Shirt at the conclusion of the relay.
