NEW ORLEANS - SBU's Erik Johnson and Michael Pierce have been named to the 2008 USTFCCCA Division II Men's All-Academic Track and Field Team.

Johnson, a junior on SBU's indoor and outdoor track teams last season, is from Blue Springs, Mo., where he attended Blue Springs High School.

Pierce was also a junior last season, and earned All-American recognition i both in cross country and the indoor mile. He is from Gladstone, Mo. (Oak Park HS).

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division II Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
