KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The MIAA has recognized 20 SBU student-athletes on the 2007-08 Academic All-MIAA Team.

To earn this distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative 3.50 grade-point average in two terms of attendance at the nominating institution, and earned All-MIAA honors in their sport over the past season.

In the sports of baseball, basketball, football, women's soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball, the coaches vote for All-MIAA. First-team, second-team and honorable mentions are eligible for Academic All-MIAA recognition.

In golf, a points system based on finishes in the five conference-sanctioned events is utilized, with the top 10 in points scored earning All-MIAA, and all those scoring earning honorable mention.

In track and field, the top six finishers in each individual event, along with the top three relay-event finishers, are recognized as All-MIAA, while the top 20 finishers in cross country earn All-MIAA honors (11-20 are honorable mention).

Student-athletes at MIAA schools competing in sports which the conference does not sponsor a championship and meeting the academic requirements are eligible for Academic All-MIAA honors by either earning All-District/Region honors in a team sport, or by qualifying for their national championship in an individual event.
